MESMAC NEWCASTLE IS NOW CLOSED

Following a recent service review, a decision was taken to close Mesmac and Shine services in Newcastle.

The teams have made a fantastic contribution in supporting sexual health and wellbeing of residents, including some of the city’s most disadvantaged and marginalised communities.

The landscape has changed in recent years and there are now a variety of organisations working with key groups supported by MESMAC and SHINE. Newcastle City Council is committed to working with these partners to ensure those previously supported by these services have the support and care they need to enjoy sex in a healthy way.

The HIV and STI testing service provided by MESMAC and SHINE closed on 31st of August 2023.

For further information on sexual health, including contraception advice and testing, visit:

Please note that clinical sexual health services will be moving to a new model of delivery from 1 October 2023, provided by Solutions for Health and PreventX. Further details about these models, including contact details, will be shared in due course.

Thank you for your engagement and support over the years.
